Edinburgh University Computer Science Society were holding their annual Freshers Ball at The Caves in Edinburgh. There were 250 students in celebratory mood starting with drinks followed by a meal and then dancing to a local band.
The brief was to photograph as many of the attendees as possible with candid shots and also with group requests.
The challenge was that the venue was aptly named! Lots of little rooms with natural stonework but very dark with low ceilings. Also, due to the number of people attending, the dining was split over four rooms. I recruited a second photographer to assist me and to ensure that all areas were covered. To overcome the lighting , on camera flash was used and enhanced by post shoot editing in Lightroom.
